A serious crash on Upper Middle Road sent one person to a Hamilton trauma centre Thursday (Oct. 5) evening, say Halton police. The two-vehicle crash at 8:15 p.m. occurred at Upper Middle Road and the Hamilton-bound Hwy. 403 exit ramp in Oakville. Halton police say a 70-year-old Mississauga man was driving a Ford F-150 eastbound on Upper Middle Road and attempted to make a U-turn at the intersection. Meanwhile, a 42-year-old woman was driving an Audi Q5 Serious crash sends one driver to trauma centre westbound on Upper Middle Road and the two vehicles collided. Oakville firefighters assisted Halton paramedics in extricating the injured pick-up truck driver. While he was being attended to, he went into medical distress and was rushed to Hamilton General Hospital. His condition was later upgraded to stable. The driver of the Audi received minor injuries. Due to the serious nature of the medical distress, the Halton Regional Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit were dispatched to the collision to collect the scene evidence. The roadway was closed to traffic in both directions for approximately three hours during the scene investigation.
