Halton police are investigating after a Good Sa maritan was allegedly assaulted and robbed in north Oakville Friday (Oct. 13). The incident began at around 1:30 a.m., when an individual pulled over to assist a vehicle that appeared to be stranded in the Neyagawa Boule vard and Settlers Road West area. Police allege when the individual approached, several men assaulted the person, stealing a cell phone, watch and wallet. The victim was injured during the incident and required medical attention. The suspects were last seen driving south bound on Neyagawa Boulevard. One suspect is described as being 45 years old, five-foot-seven, clean-shaven with short brown hair. He wore a dark coloured button up shirt and dress pants. The other suspects are described as being large males in their 30s. The suspect vehicle is described as an older model black Dodge Caravan with tinted win dows. On Friday, Oct. 13, Halton Regional Police ex ecuted a search warrant of a home on DellBrook Crescent in Toronto where they seized several purses, electronics, and clothing they believe is connected to the thefts. Police have charged Juan Walter Ramos Mo rales, 47, of Toronto, with 12 counts of theft un der $5,000 and three counts of theft over $5,000. He was held for a bail hearing. Halton Police would like to remind everyone Toronto man charged in purse thefts to be aware of their personal belongings while in public places, specifically hotels and restaurants. They offer the following tips: · Never leave personal items (purse, phone, wallet, etc.) unattended; · If staying at a hotel, use the in-room safe for valuables/cash if available; and, · If possible, do not carry large amounts of cash with you.
