That was the joke shared at Wednesday's unveiling of Oakville's fifth Dream Home, built by Mattamy Homes in Upper Glen Abbey. A smoke machine belched in the background as organizers gathered for a photo session in front of the two-story stone exterior house, the one-of-kind custom-built grand prize in this year's Dream Home Lottery, valued at over $360,000. The smoke was used to create the illu sion of the Dream Home coming out of the `mist,' symbolic of its dreamlike qualities. To date, about 70% of the 65,000 tickets have been sold. `T h e phones are ringing off the hook," says project manager Gail Stinnes of the Community Foundation of Oakville, which oversees the lottery. Now in its fifth year, the volunteerdriven Great Dream Home Lottery has become the largest and most profitable lottery in the Greater Toronto Area. Last year it raised more than $700,000 for Ontario Special Olympics and the Community Foundation of Oakville's Heritage Trails Project. Over the past four years, over $2 million has been raised, and proceeds have also supported the Red Cross and United Way. This year's proceeds will support the Oakville YMCA and Halton Healthcare Services. The spacious four-bedroom beige interior house with hardwood, carpeted and ceramic tile flooring, stands out as a jewel in a sea of construction at 2337 Oakhaven Dr. The home, it's completion date moved ahead to accommodate the lot tery, is completely surrounded by heavy construction equipment as Upper Glen Abbey takes shape. The grand prize also comes with four appliances, central air conditioning and central vacuum system, cold cellar, home security system, and 3 1/2 bathrooms - the ensuite from the master bedroom has a whirlpool bath. The house features a porch along the front and north side overlooking a hydro right of way, taking full advantage of its oversized Mattamy WideLot appear ance. Parked in the driveway for the unveil ing was the Early Bird prize, a fully loaded bright red `James Bond' 2000 BMW Z3 convertible sports car, valued at $52,785, donated by Budd's BMW. The draw for the car will be made on Nov. 12th. The cut-off date to buy tickets to be included in the Early Bird draw is Nov. 6th at 9 p.m. The draw for more than 2,400 prizes including the Dream Home is on Dec. 3rd. Final cut-off date to buy tickets is Nov. 20th at 9 p.m. Tickets are $40 each or three for $100.
