w w w .in s id e h a lto n .c o m | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, N o ve m b e r 9 , 2 0 1 7 | 34 Notice of Ash Tree Removal in Conservation Halton Flood Channels Conservation Halton is planning to remove all the ash trees along our flood channels due to the impact on them of Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). This work will be starting midNovember on the Morrison-Wedgewood Flood Channel. The Emerald Ash Borer is a highly destructive, non-native beetle species which is causing ash trees to die throughout our community; EAB will impact all ash trees and cause most of them to die within three years of being infected. Ash trees are found on Conservation Halton owned/managed property alongside all three of our urban channel systems and so they are being removed to proactively manage any risk they might pose as dead trees close to our neighbours. Neighbours of these flood channels will see work crews removing ash trees over the next few weeks. Conservation Halton operates three concrete flood channels (in Burlington, Milton and Oakville) to help protect communities from the impact of flooding, by moving large amounts of water through flood-prone areas as quickly as possible.
