S. The contest takes place every year, and quar tets from all over North America compete in a preliminary round in May. The top quartets from each area advance to the international contest. This year's contest was held Nov. 1-4. Skyfall consists of Oakville residents Sherelle Kelly-Witt and Susanne Hasulo along with Liz Travis of Burlington and Wendy Arnold of Mississauga. Kelly-Witt, Hasulo and Travis are members of the 60-m em ber A Cappella Show case Chorus in Milton. Arnold directs the Toronto Accolades, a 30-m em ber wom en's a cappella group. Harmony, Incorporated is an international, non-profit organization whose purpose is to em power all women through education, friendship and a cappella singing in the barbershop style. Since 1959, Harmony, Incorporated has ex panded from its eastern roots to include chap ters in the United States and Canada, from Cali fornia to Newfoundland, and from Manitoba to Florida. Contests and conventions are held each year for the purposes of educating members in the performance of the craft, bringing together the membership to see the best perform, to inform the membership of the status and direction of the organization, and to encourage an atm o sphere of friendship and camaraderie. The concert on Saturday will be held at 8 p.m. while the Sunday concert will be at 3 p.m. Both concerts will be held at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 1150 Monks Passage, in Oakville. Choral Fantasy, by Beethoven, is a work for pia no, chorus and orchestra and was composed in 1808. It is considered the forerunner for Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Mass in C Minor by Mozart was composed when he was just 22, and showed his spiri tual side as he wrote the piece in thanks for his new wife's re covery after an illness. Soloists include local resi dent Charlene Pauls, soprano; Ariel Harwood-Jones, sopra no; Bud Roach, tenor; Bradley Christenson, bass; and, Ron Greidanus, piano. Masterworks is one of the largest community music or ganizations in Oakville and regularly performs with more than 100 musicians, choir and orchestra combined. "Masterworks concerts are an integral part of our Oakville community," said Masterworks General Man ager Stacey Sinclair, in a press release. "W hether you have been to our concerts 10 times, or have never been, it's truly an experience to see this incred ible assembly of talented cho risters and musicians - who are your neighbours," Sinclair added.
