Friday, October 8, 1999 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER Art exhibit opens next week The open reception for the art exhibition o f Bev Hagan Rodin's recent paintings will take place from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 16th in the M cLaren-B arnes Gallery at 133 Reynolds St. Approximately 25 paintings in watercolour and acrylic on canvas will be on display in this exhibit. Rodin's paintings are elegantly coloured semi-abstracted interpre tations of light. Each painting con centrates on the ever-changing illu sions of light both through and onto surfaces and natural forms. Her paintings evoke a spiritual and universal response. The impressionist qualities in each work engage the view er's imagination. Rodin is an accomplished Cana dian artist with extensive profes sional credits. Her work has been in a number of publications and is found in collections in Canada, Luxembourg, France, the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States. Rodin participated in the Leighton Artist Colony at the Banff School of Fine Art, and Atelier du Seguret in France. She is a member of the Canadi an Society of Painters in Water colour and the Ontario Society of Artists. The McLaren-Barnes Gallery is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. `Bandstand' moves to Royal York Bandstand: a Salute to Sinatra and the Kings o f Swing in which Oakville's Russ Little played his trusty trombone with the Galaxy All-Star Orchestra at Toronto's Winter Garden Theatre during the summer has moved to the Impe rial Room of the Royal York Hotel. Now billed as a dinner theatre, Bandstand will continue Friday and Saturday evenings at the Royal York until Dec. 11th. For tickets call (416) 861-0288.
