C ross country check up Raiders are top ranked The SL Thomas Aquinas basketball program is again in the forefront, only this time it's the senior girls team which sits atop the Toronto Star high school rankings. Just a couple seasons back, it was the Aquinas boys team that had this honour. The Raiders are certainly living up to their lofty expectations in early league play. They won their opening game on Monday over Loyola 70-27 and also picked up a victory on Wednesday, 6930 over Burlington Central, improving their reoerd to 2-0. Oakville Trafalgar has also been tra ditionally strong and are also highly touted this season, making last week's Star rankings at #8. Oakville Trafalgar were less domi nant in winning their opening games this week, 40-30 over Blakelock and 35-15 over White Oaks. The two teams will get an early sea son showdown at Oakville Trafalgar on Monday, Oct. 18 in what might turn out to be round one in the battle of Oakville. The Halton Board o f Education held its annual Oakville district cross country meet on Thursday, Sept. 30th, at Sherwood Forest Park in Burlington. The junior meet took place in the morning and the senior meet was in the afternoon. Nineteen junior schools took part with a total of 1,166 runners. Age groups for the junior schools are as follows: tykes eight years; atoms nine years; bantams 10 years; and juniors 11 years. In the senior meet, 12 schools took part. Age groups for the senior meet are as follows: juniors 11 years; intermediates 12 years; and seniors 13 years.
