THE NEW TANNERTHURSDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2017 7THE NEW TANNER THURSDAY, DECEMBER 21, 20176 The seventh Annual Secret Santa was held on Tuesday, December 19. I am always amazed at how much laughter and fun you can have stealing other people's gifts. They also enjoyed the cama- raderie and the wonderful festive refreshments. The Centre wil l be closed on Monday, De- cember 25 and Tuesday, December 26 for the Christmas Holidays. The Centre is open December 27, 28, 29, and the usual drop in programs will be offered except for the paper tole class and after- noon social dancing. The Monday and Friday LHIN exercise classes will take a break over the holidays and will resume on Friday, January 5 and Monday, January 8. 121 people enjoyed the Christmas Social Dinner at the Acton Legion on December 14. The din- ner was delicious and everyone enjoyed dan- cing to Norm Mason's music. Lynda Fischer introduced Mayor Rick Bonnette, Halton Hills Councillors Ted Brown, Jon Hurs t , Commis- sioner of Recreation and Parks Warren Harris, and Manager of Recrea- tion Services Samantha Howard, and of course our own Hillsview Co- ordinator Wendy Krever. Mayor Rick thanked all the staff and volunteers for the hours they com- mit to the Centre. Santa Claus even took time out of his busy schedule to wish everyone a Happy Christmas. There were lots of prizes, and Robert Crawford won the 50/50 just in time for Christmas. Kudos and thanks to Lyn- da and her group for a job well done. The next Lunch and Learn is on Tuesday, January 2. The lunch is in- dividual chicken pot pie, salad and dessert, and the topic is caregiver support and education. The cut-off date is Friday, December 22 at 3 p.m. The Horticulture Pro- gram on January 2 is full, but the class will be re- peated on January 16. You will learn to create three miniature flower arrange- ments to take home. Each class is limited to 12 par- ticipants. Sign up and pay if you are interested. This Friday, Decem- ber 22, 50 people will be enjoying the Christmas Turkey Lunch prepared and served by Helen Croghan and her crew. The next Friday lunch on December 29 will be soup and sandwiches plus dessert, tea and coffee fol- lowed by Bingo. Don't forget that your membership expires on December 31. There will be a two week grace per- iod and then your name will be removed from the 50/50 draw drum. There was no winner for the weekly 50/50 this week, so next Friday the amount to be won should be around $300. Heritage Acton wishes everyone a wonderful Christmas season and a happy, healthy, prosperous new year. We'd like to offer special thanks to these individuals and businesses for their generous donations which help to make our annual stocking auction so successful.
