Foster volunteers are an essential part of dog guide training and socialization, helping the dogs adjust to different environments during their first year. "We have two litters of poodles going home this month, and two more will be born by the end of the year, so we are seeking homes during the next few months," says Sam Hobbes, breed ing and puppy program coordinator, in a press release. "We always enjoy seeing our puppies get matched with good homes," Hobbes adds. Foster puppy volunteer requirements include the following: · Volunteer is able to take the puppy with them during the day; · Volunteer lives one to one-and-half hours from the Oakville or Breslau facilities; · Volunteer would be able to attend puppy classes and the vet during regular business hours; and, · Volunteer is willing to follow our guidelines in raising the puppy. Today, thanks to volunteer support, there are more than 2,700 teams that have graduated from dog guide programs, including canine vision, sei zure response, diabetic alert, autism assistance, service and hearing ear.
