Oakville Mayor Rob Burton accepted the cheque from Oakville Hydro President and CEO Rob Lister during the M onday Dec. 18 council meeting. The Town received the funds for upgrading its streetlights to high-efficiency light emitting diodes (LEDs) through Oakville Hydro' s Electricity Retrofit Program, w hich pays incentives to eligible participants w hen replacing existing inefficient equipm ent w ith high-efficiency equipment. "The Town' s participation in the Electricity Retrofit Program has helped the Town reduce its environmental footprint and energy bill," said Burton. "It also reflects council' s ongoing com m itm ent to environmental leadership and sustainability," he added. Since March 2016, the Town has upgraded around 15,000 of its streetlights to highefficiency LEDs.
