KEVIN NAGEL kn agel@b u rl i ngto n post, co m Oakville's Logan Ma crae and Milton's William Adams raced their karts at the World Karting Associa tion Vega Road Race series at Daytona International Speedway for the Christ mas break. The two 11-year-old friends race for the Water loo Regional Kart Club at Flamboro Speedway. Racing at the iconic Daytona site is one of kart racing's biggest events. Races were held Dec. 28-29. Macrae, a Brookdale Public School student, fin ished eighth in the Cadet/ Junior Division on day one of the two-day competition, with Adams taking sixth. Macrae's competition was over, however, when he hit the wall in practice and couldn't compete in the sec ond race. Adams took eighth in his second race. Macrae has been racing for three years, hampered this year by a broken wrist suffered in a karting acci dent. His biggest accom plishment so far is finish ing third in the novice divi sion of the Oktoberfest competition at Flamboro Speedway, an open event held each season. Adams, a Sam Sherratt Public School student, has raced for five years, finish ing the 2017 season in third place in points among 19 competitors. He won a fas test qualifier award and finished second in the Jr. Briggs Division at Oktober fest. IT'S TIME!
