Two Oakville men have nearly $17.3 million to split after winning the LOTTO 6/49 draw on Dec. 23. Kevin McMurray, 53, and Scott Stoll, 52, have been friends for 15 years and have played the lottery together for about three years. Kevin purchased the winning ticket at the Mac's convenience store on Sixth Line. "When I went to the re­ tailer to check our ticket the machine froze and the OLG (Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation) called," said Kevin as he and Scott picked up their winnings from the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. "I thought we'd won $17,000 and that was great. But when I looked closer I realized my slip read $17 million." After Kevin spoke with the OLG and had confir­ mation that he held a jack­ pot winning ticket he shared the news with Scott. "When Kevin first called, I thought he was j oking with me," laughed Scott. "He sent me a picture of the validation slip to prove it, but even now I am still in shock and disbelief." Kevin and Scott are both married, with two daughters each. The friends have simi­ lar plans for their win­ nings noting they want to make sure their children are taken care of and help other family members.
