Born in London England, Jean emigrated to Canada in 1956 with her husband, Eric, and their children Richard, Tim and Sally. Jean and Eric were married for 72 years and lived happily in Oakville until 2016 when they moved to a retirement home in Trenton to be nearer to their daughter. Mona was the beloved wife and best friend of Jack for almost 65 years, and the dearly loved mother of Patricia (Alex Simard), June (Henry Benzoni) and Kathleen (widow of Hendrik Makenbach), grandmother to Danielle (Rob Griffin), Sarah (Karl Giersch), and Scott and Brian Benzoni. Not forgotten by nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States, and family in the Isle of Man - the native country of her parents. Mona was born in Montreal to Leonard and Florence McGain (nee McKnight). She was predeceased by her parents and by her siblings Ashley, Pauline and Nonie. Mona was a gentle lady who never critic ize d those who differed with her. She was a member of the United Church Women and was appointed a Life Member. She served her groups well in Hampstead and M ount Royal in M ontreal, Agincourt and Kingsway in Toronto and St. John's and Saint Paul's in Oakville. Mona was a keen curler and swept the ice in both Mount Royal and the Boulevard Club as attested to by the honours she gathered. The walls of all her homes are witness to her talent as an artist in both paint and wool. Cremation has taken place. She resumed her career first as an operator with Bell Telephone, and later as a real estate age n t w ith C en tu ry 21. After her retirement, she travelled extensively, and was active in the Bell Pioneers retirees' group, serving as President of that organization. Her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren, who adored her. A beautiful soul, she will be fondly remembered for her deep commitment to her fam ily, her kindness, and her progressive thinking.
