Wednesday, September 22, 1999 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER D5 ♦ ♦ ♦ Angels pull out the victory in overtime Photo by Barrie Erskine There's no mistaking which team won the Ontario Cup championship game in overtime this past Saturday at the Ontario Soccer Association's Coffee Time Soccer Complex in Vaughan. Moments after the winning goal was scored these Oakville Angels players shared their jubilation while a lone Whitby player dejectedly walked away. (Continued from page D1) The Angels became Oakville's sec ond Ontario Cup champion team with the Oakville Cobras winning the Ontario Cup U-13 girls championship the previous weekend by a 2-1 verdict over Waterloo. Karen Zmirak scored both goals in that game. A third Oakville team also made it to the Ontario Cup provincial champi onship game. The U-15 Oakville Strikers nearly pulled off an upset but eventually fell 1-0 to the Burlington Flames. Summing up her team's feelings, Anne Friedland said "I'm proud and honoured to be on such a great team. "It was a pretty tough game, two great teams playing each other. And I guess the team that wanted it more, won." The game was an exciting affair with each team controlling the momentum and producing occasional glorious scoring opportunities. Here's the roster for the Ontario Cup champion U-14 Oakville Angels ...
