Oakville's Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guide Training Centre has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Lions Clubs International Foundation. The funds - which were matched by each Lions Club in District A-15 of Southwestern Ontario - will go directly to training dog guides for Canadians who are blind and deaf and for those who are physically challenged. The money will also be used to complete the new Training Centre in Breslau. 'This is a wonderful gift that the Lions Clubs of District A-15 have given us," said Lions Foundation of Canada executive direc­ tor Sandy Turney. 'This money will help many Canadians to lead more independent and safe lives with the help of their new dog guides." Lions Foundation of Canada is dedicated to helping people with visual and physical dis­ abilities. Mobility, safety and independence is provided through Canine Vision Canada, Hearing Ear Dogs of Canada and Special Skills Dogs of Canada. The Foundation is a charitable organization which receives funding from Lions Clubs, individuals and corporations from across the country. CNIB needs night-golf volunteers CNIB Halton-Peel is looking for volunteers to help at its first ever Glo Ball night golf tour­ nament being held on Friday. The event will see golfers playing under the stars at Banty's Roost in Caledon East. Volunteers are needed to work at registra­ tion, as well as tee marshals and assisting golfers around the course. Other prizes include tickets to Mall intruder escapes but left computers Police in Oakville are trying to track down the person responsible for the burglary of two offices and a store in a west end mall at the end of July. Shortly after midnight on the Thursday night of July 29th, cleaning staff came across a man in the second floor hallway for Hopedale Mall. An employee went to call the police, but the suspect left prior to their arrival. When police searched the building, they found two offices had been entered. Several computer hard drives, keyboards, speakers, monitors, printers, and some cash was missing. During their search of the building, some of the com­ puter equipment was found in hallways and at the top of the stairs to the main level. The suspect sought by police was described as male, black, 20-26 years, 6 feet (183 cm) tall, with a skinny build, and short dark hair.
