Blood typing clinic Aug. 20th A blood typing session will be held at Oakville Place on Aug. 20th by Canadian Blood Services, in hopes of attracting new blood donors while at the same time telling members of the public what their blood type is. The public can find out whether they are O, A, B or AB. The session will be held near the Sears Court from 4 to 8 p.m. The need for blood is ongoing, says Canadian Blood Services. "Whether it's Someone in a car acci dent, a mom during childbirth or a surgery patient, the need for blood never stops," says Marianne Clarke, donor ser vice representative. "Donors are needed every day." The Nature Centre at Bronte Creek will be hosting a fun and informative day of activities and events focusing on archaeology and artifacts. Activities will run all day, starting at 10 a.m. and concluding at 4 p.m. and will be held at the Nature Centre and the grounds around the Nature Centre. Enjoy events such as Clay Pot making, and learn the art of Woodland Period pottery making. Participate in the Smashed Pot activity, where you get a chance to partici pate in the puzzling world of archaeology. Watch as pro jectile points or "arrowheads" are made in the flint knap ping demonstration. Have you ever found an "arrowhead?" Bring them in and have an archaeologist tell you about the people who made it and how long ago it was made. Learn about the tools used by archeologists both through hands on inter active demonstrations and by viewing some of the infor mative slide shows that will be shown once every hour. Two slide shows will be alternated throughout the day as presenter, Greg Purmal, answers the question: "What is Archaeology anyway?" and Steve Thomas talks about the occupation of the park in: "Who lived here?"
