Attew‘s community involvement has been as strong as her personality alâ€" most since the moment she "stepped off the boat," or in her case, a plane. Her loyalty and devotion to the town hasn‘t gone unnoticed. Most recently, the bubbly goâ€"getter has been named a finalist in the eighth annual RBC Top 25 Canadian Immiâ€" grant Awards. Her good friend Tamara Tambre nominated her for the award that recognizes immigrants for their inâ€" spiring contributions to Canada. This year, more than 400 nominations were received and reviewed by a panel of judges. Of those, 75 finalâ€" ists were selected; 25 winners will be announced in June, based on online voting by Canadians. Winners will be recognized in the July print edition of Canadian Immigrant magazine; they‘ll receive a commemorative plaque and $500 toward a charity of their choice. Milton‘s Tiger Jeet Singh won the award in 2012. There‘s little doubt of Attew‘s conâ€" tributions to Milton â€" she‘s behind countless events and fundraisers, and whenever anyone needs a reâ€" source for an outreach, they can reach out to her. The pulse of the community would be an apt description of Attew, 47, who‘s the mother of two children, Holly, 18 and Ryan, 15. She‘ll celâ€" ebrate her marriage to Vernon, her "very supportive" husband for 20
