Removal, destruction of Canada geese eggs requnre federal permit p(rmnt was acquired from Enâ€" vironment Canada prior to the reâ€" moval. "Staff at Vanier recently became aware of some Canada geese that made nests and laid eggs in the inâ€" mate yard and near the entrance at the institution," Morrison said. "Staff had received reports that the geese were acting aggressively to visitors and others using the entrance." He said they got a permit to "reloâ€" cate the eggs." Vanier staff hired a wildlife manageâ€" ment company to "safely remove the eggs" last week, he noted. At press deadline, Morrison did not reply as to where the eggs were reâ€" located. Staff, who wished to remain anonyâ€" mous, spoke to the Champion and noted their dismay at the actions. They said the geese have been nesting at the facility for years. "I guess this was a nuisance to the administrators of the jail as they had a company remove all eggs in trash bags and destroy all nests on the property," alleged the employee. According to Environment Canada‘s Canadian Wildlife Service, Canada geese can sometimes cause damâ€" age and danger, but the tolerance varies from person to person and place to place. "TZ judy | 6T NOLY Driving the fun at Seasons J eff Potter was looking for something new when he drove by Seasons Milton Retirement Community. He had worked at Toronto Pearson Airport for 28 years when he was laid off. Seasons Milton had just opened when he came in to see what Seasons was about. Later he decided to apply for a job online. "I was invited to a meet and greet where they said they were looking for a driver. My ears perked up and I thought, that job could be great for me!" "I wake up happy that I get to go to work." Jeff was hired to drive the Seasons bus. He takes residents on local excursions to restaurants and shopping centres, and sometimes drives further afield to places like Mohawk Racetrack, The Butterfly Conservatory and Ripley‘s Aquarium in Toronto. Jeff lends a hand at excursions, like when they went to the Aquarium, telling us he "felt like a mother duck with the cooler and keeping an eye on everyone. We had a lot of fun!" In addition to group events, residents can reserve a spot on the bus for transportation to local, personal appointments to the bank, doctor‘s appointments or lunch with a friend. This is a great service for residents who no longer drive, and who don‘t want to depend on their busy loved ones every time they want to go somewhere. Jeff says, "They just sign up at the front desk with their name, time and where they want to go. | do a bit of moving around to accommodate everyone and residents respect that medical appointments take precedence." Jeff is a great ambassador for Seasons Milton; his parents and his aunt and uncle all live there. Jeff says "One day | pulled up the bus and saw my aunt and uncle! We both said, what are you doing here?" He adds, laughing, "The Potters are taking over Seasons Milton!" When we asked Jeff why he loves his job he told us, "I‘ve just always had a heart for seniors and believe they should be treated with great respect. The residents here make it so much fun; we are always having a good laugh and | love their honesty!" Jeff sums up his experience at Seasons Milton by adding, "I wake up happy that I get to go to work." & (l Seasons C MILTON Retirement Community Call 905â€"864â€"6888 760 Bronte Street South, Milton www.seasonsretirement.com wojuojeyap;su| mm | NOIIJWVHDI NY
