Crime Stoppers hopes reâ€"enactment will help solve Miiton cold case By David Lea METROLAND WEST MEDIA GROUP Halton Crime Stoppers is hoping a reâ€"enactâ€" ment of a 2007 homicide, filmed in Oakville May 18, will finally bring justice for the vicâ€" tim‘s family. Raymond Michael Venerus, 55, was murdered outside his home on Dublin Line in Milton on Feb. 21, 2007. Police said around 9:50 a.m. on that day, Venerus got into his Jeep Cherokee and drove to the end of his driveway, where unâ€" known suspect(s) approached him. "He was not a man to back down from a conâ€" frontation and he stopped his Jeep and got out," said Det. Const. Paul Proteau, Halton Crime Stoppers Coâ€"ordinator. "Raymond Venerus was fatally shot once in the head. To date, police have been unable to identify the person responsible for shooting him." It has been nearly a decade since this murder took place and Proteau said the reâ€"enactment Study includes review of ward boundaries ED est in the notion of reducing the number of municipal elected officials. The report comes as the first phase of a twoâ€" part review. Once a decision is made on the future composition of Milton Council, the consultant team will undertake phase two of the study, which will encompass a comâ€" prehensive evaluation of the Town‘s ward boundaries and set out alternative boundâ€" ary options to ensure effective and equitaâ€" ble local government. The goal is to have all changes decided on and in place before the 2018 municipal election. In addition to more Milton representatives, Regional Council also voted to add one more Oakville councillor to the Halton table. This would see regional council comprised of 24 members â€" the chair, eight counciliors from Oakville, seven from Burlington, five from Milâ€" ton and three from Halton Hills.
