GARA’s special events committee planning several major activities By DIANA ERWIN Special to the North News The GARA special events committee has set the date for the ï¬rst meeting of the new year. Anyone interested in joining this committee is invited to attend. The meet- ing will be held on Jan. 28th at Designs of All Kinds, 481 North Service Rd. W., Unit A18 at 7 pm. During the year the special events com- mittee of the Glen Abbey Residents’ Association (GARA) puts on a variety of activities and community functions. This year several ideas are being considered. They include the Glen Abbey Garage Sale, a Summer Hootenany, Octoberfest, a Bridge Opening Party, New Year’s Eve and of course the very popular Summerfest. Volunteers are needed to head events or to help out on these events. A committee member can do as little or as much as they wish for any of the special events. This is a great opportunity to help out your commu- nity while meeting new friends. -,1 Sparling wants $4,000 far permanent concrete banner poles in Glen Abbey Ward 4 councillor Stephen Sparling will ask the town’s budget committee this Saturday (Jan. 23rd) to approve a $4,000 expenditure for a new banner location in north Oakville.
