Their purpose is to recognize indiâ€" viduals who have made outstanding contributions toward improving the town‘s social services or the health and social wellâ€"being of its citizens on a nonâ€"remunerative basis over the past 12 months. This year there will be two cateâ€" gories: Adult and Youth. The Youth Volunteer of the Year Award category is new for 1993 and was established to recognize and encourage the accomplishments and goodwill contributions that have been made to our society by the young people who live here. Our youth are our hope for the future! There is no age restriction, except for the Youth Category, which is 19 years of age and under. However, nominees must be resiâ€" dents of Oakville. Candidates may be nominated by any volunteer organization, commuâ€" nity group or individual that wants to recognize someone‘s outstanding voluntary efforts. The criteria used in the selection process is made up of Leadership, Perseverance, Degree of Personal Involvement, Creativity and Work Impact on the Community. Your candidate‘s voluntary conâ€" tributions to any and all organizaâ€" tions made during the past year should be included on the nominaâ€" tion form. You are also encouraged to include on this form information regarding any obstacle your nomtâ€" nee has overcome in pursuing volâ€" unteer work. All nomination forms and any supporting documents must be received by the Mayor‘s Office on or before Monday, March 15, 1993.
