The Canadian Colleges Athletic Association men‘s and women‘s volleyball championships got underway yesterday (Thursday)â€"in Oakville but first there was some other business to take care of. The CCAA handed out its allâ€"Canadian awards Wednesday at Otello‘s Banquet Hall and a member of the host team was front and centre. Others were: Timothy Demant and Darren Wiersma (Trinity Western); Bryan Funk (Grande Prairie); Junior Donald (Mount Royal); Gaetan Rousseau (Limoilou); Andrew White (Seneca); Carmon Halvorsen (SIASTâ€" Palliser); Craig Fulton (King‘s College) and Sebastian Sheridan‘s Jonathan King, a secondâ€"year business student, was one of 10 players named to the men‘s team. New â€" York Mets‘s Eastern Canada scout Andy Lawrence will put on a free clinic for Oakville Little League coaches, tomorrow (Saturday) at Falgarwood Public School. Topics include planning effecâ€" tive practises, situational plays and baseball theory for coaches. Coaches can reserve their spot in the clinic by calling Oakville Little League at 842â€"5555. But McManus, a 6â€"footâ€"3. 200â€"pound rightâ€"winger missed nine of his team‘s 26 games because of injury and illness, including the last seven because of the ‘flu. The Big Red missed the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) playoffs for the first time in five years this season. They finished 11th â€"â€" only the top 10 make the playoffs) with a 5â€"16â€"1 record (6â€"19â€"1 overall).
