The ‘Posse‘ entertains for charity at Loyola By HOWARD MOZEL Oakville Beaver Staff Spiritual Posse â€" the popular local band that donates it time and talents to charity â€" will be performâ€" ing tonight (Friday April 23rd) at a benefit dance for the Oakville Parentâ€"Child Centre. The event â€" which is being preâ€" sented by the Church of the Incarnation â€" will take place at St. Ignatius of Loyola High School from 8 p.m. to midnight. Proceeds will help support the Centre‘s subsiâ€" dized parenting programs. The evening will feature a cash bar and door prizes along with comâ€" phmemary Texâ€"Mex finger foods. Dress is casual. The music, of course, will be provided by Spiritual Posse. In addition to original songs the group plays music from the Sixties through Nineties ranging from Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Travelling Wilburys and Blue Rodeo to Buddy Holly, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. Members include Bruce Richards, Tom McNally, Dave Klarer and Steve Moffatt. This is the second dance the church has presented featuring Spiritual Posse. Last year‘s event sold out so fast that the April 23 show was moved to a larger venue. "It‘s important for a church to be involved in the community," says the Rev. Nissa Basbaum. "The idea to sponsor an event in support of the Parentâ€"Child Centre was pretty obvious to us as children are such an important part of our programâ€" ming." The Centre provides a wide range of programs including parentâ€" ing courses and assistance for single parents, explains its executive direcâ€" tor.
