But by tennis standards he‘s no spring chicken either. With youth and power holding court in the game these days, Pridham isn‘t afraid to acknowledge he can‘t go on forever. So with each passing year the urgency of winning a Canadian national men‘s single title becomes greater and greater. Being the numâ€" ber one seed in this week‘s $100,000 SunLife Nationals isn‘t the greatest weight to carry. Instead Father Time is his biggest nemesis. "I would be nieve not to think about it (that he‘s getting older)," said Pridham, who knocked off Patrice Boies of St. Laurent, Que. in a thirdâ€"round match yesterday morning 6â€"3, 6â€"4. He beat London‘s Brett Hutton 6â€"0, 6â€"3 in a secondâ€" round match Tuesday. "I feel I have about four producâ€" tive years left. I‘d like to think that as I get older I‘m getting wiser. I still love the game and love to comâ€" pete. Once you lose that it‘s time to get out." Piquing his quest for the national title is that he‘s come close a numâ€" ber of times. He lost in the finals in 1989 to Andrew Sznajder and has been a semiâ€"finalist three times including last year when he lost to Sznajder EMERGENCY APPOINTMENTS FOR THOSE IN NEED! I‘d like to say I was a national champiâ€" on at least once. It‘s (pressure) not so much being the number one seed but having not won it yet and being from Oakville does play a factor. It‘s (pressure) only natural but I‘ve learned to deal with emotions." Still Pridham won‘t try to do too much in his quest. "I‘ll just go out and give it my best effort. I can‘t ask for anything more." 827â€"4197 Pridham is coming into this week‘s play in a bit of a lull. He figâ€" ures he hasn‘t had a solid result on the ATP tour singe January when he was a semiâ€"finalist at Kuala Lumpur. His most recent result was a secâ€" ondâ€"round loss to Brian Devening of the U.S. in Wimbledon qualifyâ€" ing.
