I‘ve never entered a wine making contest in my life before," he said, arms spread out wide. "His was a lastâ€" minute entry. He saw the competiâ€" tion advertised on television. Doria makes dry wine. "Dry wine â€" not too sweet â€" is good for 10 to 15 years." He entered his bottle of rosé and a bottle of oneâ€"yearâ€"old red at Matos Fine Juices at 447 Speers Rd.. Each entry cost $5, and each bottle was labeled with a receipt number, insuring anonymity. Only by matching the receipt numbers were the winners named. The judging for the overall top prize was close between the red and Doria‘s rosé. "The judges had to take a break and taste the wine again, and the red won for a second year in a row." Top prize was a trip to Italy.
