North Oakville rivals St. Ignatius of Loyola Hawks and White Oaks Wildcats meet in the third game of the Halton high school senior football season. Game time is 6:30 pm. Each team is 1-1. Wildcats erupted for a 48-6 win over T.A. Blakelock last Friday while Loyola was losing 19-6 to Halton‘s second-ranked Queen Elizabeth Park Eagles. The two are in a battle for third and fourth place with St. Thomas Aquinas and Oakville Trafalgar, so it's important in determining who gets the shot at advancing to either the Nelson Stadium or Ivor Wynne Stadium championships. White Oaks' junior team opened the season with a 23-14 win over Milton but fell 29-7 at home to Oakville Trafalgar, Wednesday. Irwin Dopwell, on a 60-yard kickoff return following the third Red Devils touchdown, scored the lone Wildcats major. Tim Bakker scored three touchdowns and Dave Hyland managed the other for the Devils. An earlier White Oaks drive was snuffed out by an Ian Erdis intercep- tion at the goallinc. Loyola, meanwhile, has one of Halton' s top ï¬eld hockey teams. The Hawks are ranked fourth in senior with a 3-1 record following a 7-0 win over T.A. Blakelock. Loyola plays White Oaks in a senior double-header at Oakville Trafalgar next Wednesday in the ï¬nal game of the regular season. Playoffs start on Oct. 18.
