And in less than three months time, four beautiful cruise ships that spend the winters cruising the Caribbean, will commence weekly sailings from New York City to Bermuda! From May to October, Celebrity Cruises has two ships, the "Horizon" and the "Meridian", sailâ€" ing every Saturday and Sunday respectively, to Bermuda. Norwegian Cruise Lines new "Dreamward" sails on Saturdays CRUISING TIPS _ChuiseB VIIfllIfll’Sfisé and on Sundays; Royal Caribbean‘s very popular "Song of America" sails to St. George‘s. A sevenâ€"day Bermuda cruise is quite different from sevenâ€"day Caribbean or Alaska cruises. Oncé you complete the twoâ€"day crossing from New York City to Bermuda, your ship visits Bermuda for four days. Each ship has a slightly different itinerary being berthed at Hamilton and St. George‘s, or in the case of the "Meridian", you are berthed for four days at King‘s Wharf with complimentary ferry service to Hamilton. The "Horizon", "Dreamward", and "Song of America" each spend three days in Hamilton and one day in St. George‘s. One of the highlights of each trip is the two hour journey from Hamilton to St. George‘s. You will find yourself up on deck helping the Captain guide your ship through the ‘very‘ narrow entrance to St. George‘s harbor. (On rare occaâ€" sions â€" when the ocean winds are very high â€" the St. George‘s visit may be skipped for an extra day in Hamilton.) While you are in Bermuda, your ship is your home! You sleep on board, have all your meals, and enjoy the ship‘s shows and enterâ€" tainment every night. Of course, you may also choose to sample from the many restauâ€" rants and local entertainment any evening ashore. During the days in Bermuda, shipboard activities will be greatly reduced as most passengers enjoy shopping, sightâ€"seeing, beach activâ€" ities, and playing sports. Snorkeling, scuba, helmet divâ€" ing, and tennis, tennis, tennis â€" it‘s all available in Bermuda. Do you enjoy spectator sports? Then take in a game of rugby, cricket, or soccer, and join the locals who will explain the rules. Bermuda is a walker‘s paradise with many little, twisting lanes disâ€" closing a new treat around every turn. Wander along the Rail Trail â€" Bermuda‘s abandoned railway â€" to many places not reached by the roads. Take the local buses everyâ€" where, at a $1 a ride, a great sightâ€" seeing value! Another great sport to enjoy on your visit is golf. There are eight courses on Bermuda and each ship offers shore programs with a choice of up to six of them. When Heather and I cruised to Bermuda on the "Horizon", three years ago, I had the pleasure of playing golf at Port Royal, St. George‘s, and Riddell‘s Bay, each very different and challenging!
