"Many builders are offering valuable incentives including mortgage buydowns, which has mitigated the effect of the recent increases in mortgage rates," he said. "This is the eighth consecutive month in which monthly sales have exceeded the same month in the previous year," Langer noted. "Throughout this period, the solid market performance has been based on excellent affordability." "We are dealing with a very patient and sophisticated buyer today â€" they have done their homework and they recâ€" ognize good value. As long as builder can continue to offer reasonable prices and excellent quality, we expect the market to remain relatively strong. It is clear, howâ€" ever, that the consumer is not willing to accept substantial increases in price," Langer added.
