This year‘s Oakville Santa Claus Parade will feature seven bands, including the Burlington Teen Tour Band, which has performed in festiâ€" , vals across North America, Europe and the Far East. Look for five drum corps in the parade, including big bands from Joining them will be a perennial crowd favorite from Burlington, the Top Hat Marching Band, complete with its dancine conductor. Float themes will include everyâ€" thing from chopping down the perâ€" fect Christmas tree to sipping egg nog with friends, as participants have been encouraged to display different family traditions. The Isherwoods â€" Brian and Diana, and their four children, will lead the parade as representatives of Oakville‘s traditional, yet diverse and independent, families. The chilâ€" dren of Brian, a civil engineer, and Diana, a music teacher, have very diverse pursuits. Katika Isherwood is known in Oakville for her humanitarian aid with the Children‘s Malnutrition Center and the Center for the Dying in Haiti. Simon Isherwood teaches at Notre Dame University and performs with the Vancouver Opera Chorus. Sarah Isherwood, a graduate of St. Mildred‘s Lightbourn School, teaches at Holy Name of Mary School in Mississauga. And Tim Isherwood, a University of Toronto student, is an accomplished pianist, cellist, organist, and his newest interest is opera. This year‘s parade theme is ‘A Family Christmas,‘ and in keeping with this initiative, an entire family â€" not a single local dignitary â€" has been chosen to be the grand marshalls. The parade will start at the corâ€" ner of Stewart and Kerr Streets at 9 a.m., move down Kerr, turn eastâ€" ward on Rebecca Street, south on Navy Street, east on Lakeshore Road, and north on Reynolds Street to the former Oakville Trafalgar High School. The parade should arrive downtown at about 9:45 a.m. The tradition continues tomorâ€" row as the 46th annual Oakville Santa Claus Parade winds its way, with more than 100 marching units and floats, down Kerr Street and along Lakeshore Road to officially bring the Christmas spirit to Oakville.
