More than 600 Canadians die from drowning and other water-related injuries every year. For the Canadian Red Cross, prevention is the key to sur vival. Many drownings can be prevent ed if people think safety first. At the Oakville Waterfront Festival, two winners began their summer vaca tions safely by winning a First Aid Kit and eight other lucky winners won a T- shirt from the Canadian Red Cross. Each year, the Red Cross attends the festival to promote water safety. The 10 winners are: Colette Carriere, Maegan Cheng, Sharon Davis, Sean Fitzpatrick, Gillian Haslett, Donna Myers, Mike Paton, Tanya Rumble, Cindy Taylor, and Wendy Walker. If interested in receiving more infor mation on water safety, contact Ashley Ferguson at the Red Cross, 845-5241.
