The bridge plan is already part of the Oakyville official plan. "An environmental assessment is taking place to implement the plan recommendations," said Flynn. "It has just hit home to some of the local peoâ€" ple that things could change." According to Flynn, maps from the original bridging proposal in 1989 don‘t show the possibility of a southerly crossing of the watercourse. At that time, it was thought that only a northern crossing, near the QEW, would be necessary for industrial trafâ€" fic as a bypass for the often congested highway route. Since then, the southâ€" ern crossing has been added to the official plan, due to increased residenâ€" tial development, but never incorpoâ€" rated into maps. "I‘m here to stave off this proposal from being slid into being behind the backs of local residents," Flynn said. ‘‘Changes to the official plan should be made in public." Wednesday, Oakville Ward 1 regional councillor, Kevin Flynn, appeared before Halton‘s planning and public works committee to make sure that the possibility of the bridge being built is included in the official plan.
