Numerous requests from the public that the activity be perâ€" mitted at the ski area have prompted the HRCA‘s advisory board to consider the sport once again. The board twice denied snowboarding at Glen Eden â€" /‘ in 1989 and 1991 â€" due to lack of space, said Sandy Bell, manâ€" ager of the HRCA‘s conservaâ€" tion areas division. But the issue is back on the board‘s agenda as of a meeting last month. "They (the board) decided they wouldn‘t consider it for this year, but agreed to look at it for next year," said Bell. Bell said the pros and cons of implementing the sport, as well as, trends where snowâ€" boarding is concerned across the continent will be included in a report. He added that physical conâ€" ditions at the ski area have changed little, but integration of snowboarding at ski areas across North America has conâ€" _ tinued to increase to about 90%. Snowboarding enthusiasts want to see the sport at Glen Eden, he said, so they don‘t have to travel long distances to other ski hills. He added that in the past Glen Eden didn‘t have the capacity to provide lessons for snowboarding. The board felt it shouldn‘t allow activities without having instruction available, Bell said. The snowboarding issue is expected to be discussed at the HRCA board‘s May 12th meetâ€" ing, following completion of the report.
