far. 30, 1994 pring fashion event draws raves for The Bay ; ADVERTISING FEATURE by Stephanie Henderson It was an ideal way to ease out of a long, punishing winter, and into the genâ€" tle embrace of spring. And the sellâ€"out crowd that attended a major fashion event hosted by The Bay, Oakville Place, recently was not disappointed. â€" The "Spring Celebration 1994 Fashion Show" on March 24 was a magic night of fashion and fun which store manager Pat Guitard described beforehand as "a fashion show enterâ€" ‘ainment evening and workshop." Those who attended the evening levent appeared to appreciate the opporâ€" ‘unity fo attend an event of this nature:so > close to home, noted Guitard, who conâ€" siders the event "an overall success." We were pleased to see a lot of our customers and friends. They really seemed to enjoy a night out with friends." Guitard was especially pleased by the positive feedback she has heard since that night. This includes praise from customers who liked the commuâ€" nityâ€"based nature of the event. A portion of the $15 ticket was donated to the Halton Women‘s Place, and a number of local merchants lent their support, in addition to The Bay and Khe manufacturers who participated in the show: Nygard International, Wonderbra, Estée Lauder, Monet Jewellery, Phantom Hosiery, and 1928 Jewellery. The joint effort clearly paid off, judging by the enthusiastic looks on visâ€" tors‘ faces and the ‘oohhs‘ and ‘aahhs‘ A model frolicks with an umbrella in an outfit from Nygard‘s Collections Internationale at the "Spring Celebration 1994 Fashion Show," held March 24 at The Bay, Oakville Place. which followed the appearance of the elegantly attired, (and in some cases scantily clad) fashion models. The audience seemed rejuvenated by THE OAKVILLE BEAVER the sight of the fresh, relaxed selection of gentlyâ€"hued spring fashions, and many listened with interest to catch the myriad insiders‘ tips mentioned relating to fashion, cosmetics and accessories. "We really tried to bring some knowledge to our customers about the latest trends, in fashions and cosmetics," Guitard said. "I think we succeeded." The companies represented in the show also contributed an exciting array of prizes, adding further value to the $15 ticket price. Refreshments were served after the fashion show. Those of you who missed the spring show need not feel disappointed; Guitard and her staff are planning a folâ€" lowâ€"up in the fall, to introduce cool weather fashions. For those who are just getting into their spring wardrobe plans, Guitard says you‘ll be thrilled to note that this season‘s trends are a radical departure from the tightlyâ€"controlled tailoring of yesterday‘s business and even casual clothes. Fabrics are softer, falling gracefully from the body, a mix of heavy and light, knit and woven textures in freeâ€"flowing swirls of soft white, the palest creams, siena browns, and deep sand shades, with a occasional touch of black and ‘celery,‘ this season‘s delicate incarnaâ€" tion of natural green. Subtly shaded ethâ€" nic prints and florals break up solid groupings and create visual richness. "Comfort is a lot more chic than it‘s ever been, and the show will reflect that," she notes. "This year‘s fashions are about the ‘total ease‘ look, with soft flaring silâ€" houettes and the crochet look. Linens are making a strong comeback." Guitard says natural colors and fibres are hot this year due to a growing conâ€" cern for and appreciation of the natural environment. That awareness is also reflected in accessories, with belts, jewâ€" The Members of Cross of Life Lutheran Church, Oakville Invite You to Join Us In The Celebration of Christ‘s Resurrection This Easter Â¥ Worship 11:00 a.m. Sunday, April 3rd Film "The Witness of Thomas" at 10:00 a.m. Meeting at the Howard Johnson‘s Hotel, 590 Argus Rd.
