Sunday's Model Air Show to benefit Fareshare Foodbank The Oakville Model Flying Club will hold its fourth annual Model Air Show to benefit the Fareshare Food- bank this Sunday, June 27th, weather permitting. The show will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Drumquin Park on Britannia Road, just west of Trafalgar Road. Featured will be precision aerobat ics, novelty aircraft, Second World War scale aircraft, model helicopters and a candy drop for children. After the show, spectators will have an opportunity to fly radio controlled aircraft with qualified instructors. Admission is a donation for the Fareshare Foodbank. Spectators are asked to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Refreshment vendors will be at the park. Parking is free. Last year, approximately 1,000 people attended, donating 2,100 pounds of food and $736. The Oakville Model Flying Club hopes to exceed this amount on Sunday. In 1997, the air show collected 1,900 pounds, of food and $246; and the first year, 1,500 pounds of food and $273 were collected. "While we have been pleased to see a reduction in the number of people coming to us for assistance," says Fareshare Foodbank director Dudley Clarke, "the fact is that we are still helping over 250 needy families in our community."
