Wednesday, June 16, 1999 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER C 7 Show Dad You Love Him This Fathers Day Get Dad out of the scorching sun with new awning By Stephanie MacLellan ADVERTISING FEATURE W ith the summer weather finally here, the scorching sun makes it hard for a lot of people to enjoy the outdoors. Now, Rollex gives you a solution. Rollex retractable awnings can be installed above decks or patios to provide shade, comfort, and protection from harmful UV rays. Like a sunroom, they let you enjoy the sun while being protected from the weather, but you get the added bonus of being outside in the fresh air. Since it is not enclosed, there is none of the heat build up that can happen in sunrooms. Backyard enter tainment is made easier than ever with protection from the blazing heat, making it great for kids and adults alike to enjoy the outdoors. Rollex currently offers four different models of retractable awnings. Two of them are operated using a standard crank, one has an adjustable pitch to lower and raise the height of the awning from the ground, and one has an upgraded crank system designed for easier control. All of these models are available with optional electrical adjustment for greater ease of movement. These models range in size from 7' to 29' wide, and up to 13' projection. The fabric of the awnings is 100% acrylic, scotch guarded for protection against staining. It comes in about 200 colours, with choices in solids and stripes. The fabric is also simple to replace if you want a new look. At Rollex, all hardware is double bolted at the shoulders for strength, and has a rust-free, powder-coated enamel finish. What a great idea for Father's Day! For more information, call 847-7480. Men and their favourite games When it comes to sports and recre ation, Canadian men appear to thrive on competition. According to a survey by the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA), five of the top 10 most popular sports for men are activities where there's a winner and a loser. So, why not challenge dad to a little one-on-one this Father's Day. Remember, to put a smile on his face -- let him win. The following sports have been list ed as favourites of men ages six and older. T H E 10 M ost Popular Sports for M en Based on Frequent Participation 1. Free weights 2. Basketball 3.
