I went on Splash Mountain. I ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I met Mickey Mouse and Goofy. I went on Space Mountain. I also went shopping. I bought things for my fam­ ily. I got to spend $25.1 loved going on Splash Mountain. It was my favourite part of the trip and my next favourite was Space Mountain. My next was the Peter Pan ride then it was the Jungle Cruise and then I went on a Pirate Ship. It was great fun. I would like to thank my principal Mrs. (Phyllis) Kingsley for putting my name in, Sylvia Verdenhalven and Janice Baker and the Air Canada crew and all the volunteers that helped me out. Sincerely, Stephen Khan The eight children sponsored for Dreams Take Flight by the Rotary Club of Oakville North, plus their escorts, pose for a group photo with Air Canada volunteers and Disney World tour guides, at Disney World.Dreams Take Flight for special children On May 11th, 275 children were treated to a one-day whirlwind trip of a lifetime to Disney World, Florida. The children were special guests of the 10th annual Dreams Take Flight. Dreams Take Flight stipulates that none of the children have ever been to Disney World and all of them would be financially unable to make a trip of this nature. Many of these children are terminally ill, or are physical­ ly or mentally challenged. Dreams Take Flight is a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing this wonder­ ful experience for these young people with the help of local organizations and businesses. Among those taking part in Dreams Take Flight were eight Oakville children sponsored by the North Oakville Rotary Club and their two adult escorts. (The Rotary Club of Oakville also sponsored eight local children and provided two adult escorts.) Cost to the Rotary clubs was $200 per child and escort for a total of $2,000. Air Canada donates the use of a plane, and the pilots and support staff also donate their services. Each child was given a goodie bag filled with Walt Disney souvenirs (including a disposable camera) and $25 in spend­ ing money. Dreams Take Flight volunteers spend the year raising funds through many different events. (One such event was a triathlon, a three-hour marathon, held at Energy Fitness which raised more than $12,000, enough to send 12 Halton children to Disney World. Next year, Energy Fitness hopes to raise $25,000.) Their efforts have a great impact on the children. The pictures and thank you notes on this page from the children and one parent help reveal just how much the Dreams Take Flight trip meant to these children. Thanks for giving me the chance to go on the Dream Wish Foundation flight through the Rotary Club of Oakville North. The most exciting moment for me was arriving at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. What stands out most in my mind is the very, very exciting log ride and also seeing that huge plane when the hangar door opened at Pearson Airport. My mom Sheila started to cry. She was happy for my other spe­ cial moment that day! Everything was so exciting that I will never forget that you Sylvia Verdenhalven and Janice (Baker) got to share that most memorable day of my life. You all will never be forgot­ ten and will always hold a special place in a comer of my heart. Also thank you Sylvia for the money you gave to me to spend at Disney World. I love my Minnie Mouse light. I used it at my school spring concert. I was a firefly. It got to shine it. When we took off was the start of the most happy, scared excit­ ing trip I'll ever have.
