O rganizers have been soliciting donations for this food drive since March 17. Despite the community's generosity, the food bank is in "des­ perate" need for a num ­ ber of items, including rice, powdered laundry detergent, instant coffee, tins of fru it and cans of salmon, said Nancy Bromberg. The success of this seasonal food drive is es­sential, say organizers, as the food they collect has to last until the next food drive, which will not take place until the Thanksgiving season. "It is very important for us to get the food in because there are so many people that we want to help.
