NEWS Town continues to monitor Lake Ontario for rising water levels • C ontinued from p age 21 stabilization north of the Rebecca Street Bridge. Town staff said this money would come from the town's general working capital reserve fund. Another $500,000 was approved to repair the Bronte Harbour launch ramp seawall with reallo cated funds from the Berta Point Seawall project, which will be rebudgeted for 2019. A further $484,400 in funding was approved for infrastructure repairs re quired at Oakville and Bronte harbours. "That includes certain dock rebuilding, brackets, waters (top part of the re taining wall that needs to be reconstructed)," said Phil Kelly of the town's de velopment engineering de partment. "There's some board walk work, some water- lines work, some power pedestals work and some seawall work." This money will come from the Town's harbour reserve fund. A total $770,000 was also approved for the replace ment and relocation of the Bronte Harbour launch ramp. These funds will come from the harbours reserve fund, project reallocations and the 2018 capital budget for ramp replacement. Town staff noted a claim has been filed with the province's Municipal Di saster Recovery Assistance Program. The Ministry of Munici pal Affairs and Housing, which runs the program, has asked the town for more documentation as it becomes available. It was pointed out that in order to receive any fund ing from this program the damage incurred must ex ceed $5.25 million. Kelly said the town is continuing to monitor Lake Ontario as high water lev els are expected this year. "Currently the lake is about 150-200 millimetres lower than at this time in 2017 and is not currently causing flooding," said Kelly. "It is above the historic long-term averages, but it is lower than it was last year." He said a response team would be fully activated should the water level rise. Kelly also pointed out town staff would focus on the completion of the iden tified restoration projects for 2018 to ensure the public will be able to enjoy these open spaces in 2019. He said June is probably the earliest the restoration work can begin.
