The Oakville Senior Citizen of the Year Award was established in 1973 to recognize an Oakville senior who has made an outstand- ing voluntary contribution to the Oakville community during retirement years. In order to be recognized as an official candidate for the award, nominees must meet the follow- ing criteria: l) Nominee must be 65 years of age or older. 2) Nominee will be judged only on his/her voluntary contri- butions to the Oakville communi- ty, since becoming a senior citi- zen, or during his/her retirement years. 3) Nominee must have resided in Oakville for at least five years prior to nomination and must cur- rently be a resident of Oakville. 4) Nominee does not need to belong to any local Senior Citizens' Club, centre or organi- zation. Individuals may nominate only one person as Senior Citizen of the Year. All nominations must be received by the Mayor's Office no later than May 1st.
