The event is a great way to get together with friends and family for a quick clean­ up of litter around schools, businesses and neighbour­ hoods. Town staff note it only takes 20 minutes and makes a big difference in keeping Oakville beautiful. "Oakville residents take pride in our community's natural beauty," said Oak­ ville Mayor Rob Burton. "Taking part in Clean Sweep is an excellent way of ensuring our town contin­ ues to be one of the most liv­ able and green places to live." Register online at Oakvil­ le.ca to get free bags courte­ sy of Glad, along with gloves to help with the cleanup. Make sure to choose a pickup location and date, and supplies will be ready at one of the following loca­ tions: town hall, Iroquois Ridge Community Centre, Glen Abbey Community Centre, River Oaks Commu­ nity Centre, Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, or Queen Elizabeth Park Cultural and Community Centre. Town staff urge resi­ dents to take pictures and videos while cleaning up and share them on the town's Facebook or Twitter page. After the cleanup, resi­ dents should email town staff at cleansweep@oak- ville.ca to let them know how many large bags of gar­ bage have been collected. Use the hashtag #clean- canadatogether to join oth­ ers nationally in caring for the environment. Residents should recycle what they can and place the Glad garbage bags out on their regular garbage col­ lection day. Make sure to use the clearly marked Glad gar­ bage bags to collect litter on Clean Sweep day as only these GLAD bags will be col­ lected by Halton Region free of charge above the three- bag limit.
