It wasn't the time or loca tion they'd envisioned to tie the knot. But a wedding without his grandfather present was the one thing Paul Mc Kenna - and fiancee Katie Gordon - simply refused to do. So Plan B it was. Due to Paul's grandfa ther's care needs, the couple put plans of getting married in May in the Niagara area aside and made their vows in Oakville Trafalgar Me morial Hospital's chapel April 21. In and out of hospital over the last two years and spending the bulk of his time in an In-patient Reha bilitation Unit - where the reception was held - grand pa John McKenna and his wife Lynn were only too happy to share in the cele bration. "Our Plan B came to gether very quickly, easily and amazingly because of everyone who helped us in- eluding the staff, nurses and housekeepers," said Paul. "During the reception, the staff were referring to my grandfather on a first- name basis because they all know him. It was nice to see my grandfather so happy and engaged during our special day. I saw him laugh and I saw him cry." Added Katie, "The most important thing for us was having our closest family and friends with us when we exchanged our vows. The hospital staff not only helped us make the ar rangements for the ceremo ny and reception, but they did everything possible to make our day as special as possible - they shared in our joy and for that we are deep ly thankful. Paul and I al ways say that through our relationship, I gained a set of grandparents and he gained a set of parents, and we couldn't imagine having our big day without all of them present."
