" - Rob Burton, Oakville Mayor Oakville Mayor Rob Bur ton and Oakville MPP Kev in Flynn were at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre Friday, April 13 to officially open the facility's new communi ty kitchen. The commercial-grade kitchen, which was made possible through a $92,500 Ontario 150 Community Capital grant received in 2017, is expected to make a real difference in the com munity. "Thanks to this special funding, QE (Queen Eliza beth) Park now has a beauti ful, state-of-the-art kitchen that will enable community organizations to prepare and serve their own food at their events," said Flynn. "This facility will help connect more people, to break, and maybe even bake bread together. This kitch en will prove to have a last ing impact on our commu nity and will continue to bring Oakville closer to- gether." Town staff said the kitch en would also provide a ven ue for cooking and nutrition programs for all ages in cluding upcoming spring programs and summer camps. It will also be available for community programs and events. "Council is always looking for new opportuni ties for residents to share their culture and connect with each other," said Oak ville Mayor Rob Burton. "This new inclusive kitchen will allow them to do so in a meaningful way." Administered by the On tario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Govern ment of Ontario, the Onta rio 150 Capital Program grants help non-profit orga nizations, municipalities and Indigenous communi ties renovate, repair and retrofit existing community and cultural infrastructure. The one-time grant was designed to help honour the province's past, showcase the present and inspire fu ture generations. For more information, visit www.otf.ca. FREE INSTALLATION Limitations Apply.
