Thompson was the only gymnast to break the 50- point barrier in the Level 1, 12-13 division, finishing with an all-around score o f50.465. He earned medals in each event, including a gold on high bar with a score of 8.400. Thompson also col lected silver medals on pom mel horse, rings, vault and parallel bars while also earning a bronze on floor. Senior gymnasts Kevin Lytwyn and Evan Smeets qualified for the national championships while three more earned spots on the Ontario team for the East ern Canadian Champion ships. Lytwyn claimed pommel horse provincial title and finished second on high bar. Smeets earned bronze med als on rings, vault and pom mel horse. Going to the Eastern Ca nadian Championships are Keagan Mulvay, Denis Chu- prys and Logan Brown. Mulvey was fifth and Brown was seventh all-around in a field of 32 in the Level 4, 13+ division. Mulvey won silver medal on high bar and was fifth on parallel bars while Brown took silver on pom mel horse. Chuprys was sixth all around in the Level 3, 10-12 division, which had 37 gym nasts vying for the title. Chuprys won a silver medal on pommel horse. Oakville also had three gymnasts win provincial event titles and three more claim medals. In the open 14+ division, Quinn Peron claimed the floor exercises gold with a score of 13.400 while team mate Jameel A li took first on vault, scoring 12.933. Also winning gold on vault was Hilton McDowell Level 1, Age 8 division with a score of 9.633. Oakville claimed three more medals in the Level 1, Age 8 division, two of them by Sam Guillemette, who picked up silver medals on floor and vault. Colin Jones won a bronze on parallel bars. In the Level 2, 10-11 divi sion, William Pokou won a silver medal on high bar. HERB GARBUTT hgarbutt@metroland.com Nine Oakville Soccer Club players and another Oakville resident were named to the Ontario Soc cer Association's provin cial teams. The Oakville Soccer Club (OSC) had players named to four o f the six provincial teams, with the biggest contingent on the boys' under-15 team. The team for 2003-born play ers included Mauro Lulli, Yves Michel Tcheuyap, Nathaneal Clarke, Tyler Curtis, Kevin Espiro and Aleks Petrovic. Tcheuyap was also a member o f the under-14 team last year. Three other OSC play ers earned a spot on Onta rio teams. Alanna Delle Monache (girls' under-15), Kacper Am brozew icz (boys' under-14) and M edi na Doka (girls' under-14) w ill play for Ontario this weekend against the Que bec provincial teams in Vaughan. Oakville's Anika Toth, who plays for Hamilton United, w ill play for the Ontario girls' under-16 team. "The Canada Soccer Excel technical staff w ill be on hand to scout the players for potential in vites to the Canada Soccer National Excel environ ments," said Gary Miller, Ontario Soccer technical director. "In addition, scouts from Toronto FC and all over Canada and North American univer sities w ill be in atten dance to see the best o f what Ontario has to of fer." The six Ontario teams w ill square o ff against their Quebec counter parts three times over three days. "This is a significant achievement for these players who have worked so hard and represented the organization so well," said OSC executive direc tor Dave Harris. Don't be a LitterBug!
