Over the course of the campaign, local chambers and boards of trade will be boldly pushing the Vote Prosperity message through debates, events and stakeholder meetings. "The Oakville Chamber of Commerce, along with Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade across the province have been ad vocating tirelessly with lo cal candidates and elected officials, highlighting busi ness priorities for this elec tion," said Oakville Cham ber President Drew Redden. "During this election cam paign, we will continue those efforts, calling on our local candidates' political party leaders to adopt our economic plan that will help strengthen businesses com petitiveness, foster job cre ation, build healthy com munities and improve gov ernment accountability." Since October, the OCC and Oakville Chamber of Commerce have been meet ing with local candidates, elected officials at Queen's Park and senior public pol icy leaders, to advocate for the recommendations for a strong Ontario outlined in Vote Prosperity. As leaders in their communities, dur ing the campaign period lo cal chambers and boards of trades will be hosting all candidates debates and events, with a focus on the Vote Prosperity message. The OCC and Oakville Chamber have also warned that Ontario's next govern ment must be committed to taking bold action in provid ing pro-growth policy solu tions. "Ontario has the founda tion for sustainable and eq uitable growth. But, bold ac tion and leadership will be required of the newly elect ed Government of Ontario, whether it is Liberal, PC or NDP," added Rocco Rossi, President and CEO, at the Ontario Chamber of Com merce. Vote Prosperity is based on four pillars for Ontario: . Strengthen business competitiveness: Rising in put costs, especially those costs deriving from govern ment regulation and policy, are the most common and acute concern of the busi ness community in Ontario. . Foster Job Creation: A robust labour market con sisting of good jobs is essen tial to prosperity for all On tarians. . Build Healthy Commu nities: Building strong com munities through adequate and affordable housing, sustainable health care, and good infrastructure al so supports business pros perity and growth, which supports those communi ties. . Improve Government Accountability: Poor imple mentation of government initiatives can result in re source waste, political frus tration and disruption for ordinary citizens, as dem onstrated by a series of pol icy failures under govern ments of all political stripes. The platform provides eighteen unique recom mendations that will help bolster Ontario's long-term economic future, while also addressing the pressing is sues the province currently faces.
