Sunday, May 16, 1999 O ak v ille B e a v e r Weekend 11 Maps and keys now available for treasure hunt The friendly Bronte Merchants and Services are looking forward to welcoming all of Oakville and sur rounding areas, to the premier "Black Bart" Treasure Hunt and festi val. Looking for a new and exciting adventure for your child. On May 29th, every child's dream comes true with the chance to participate in a hunt for pirate's treasure! One thousand treasure maps complete with keys are available now from your favourite Bronte Merchant. Maps Battlefield House Museum Stoneycreek, for a parade within the village of Bronte. Prizes will be awarded for best cos tume and best decorat ed bike/trike in three age groups: (3-5), (6- 9), (10-12). Television star, "Dudley the Dragon" will sing and dance his way into the festivities for three shows at the Bronte Legion Hall. Dudley will be joined by the hilarious funny and talented Gerald the Clown.. Showtimes are 11:30 a.m., 12:30 BRONTE VIEWS p.m., and 1:30 p.m.. The show lasts for approximately one hour. Tickets are five dollars with all proceeds supporting the Halton Centre For Childhood Sexual Abuse. Note the previously advertised 3 p.m. show has been changed to 12:30 p.m.. Children won't want to miss out on other great activities such as the Coloring Contest at Exit Realty Negotiators , pony rides and Giant Inflatables: Seaweed the Sea Monster and the Spider Slide at the Petro-Can Lot, Petting Zoo, Face painting and Tatoos, Fish ponds with prizes, and carriage rides and the chance to tour a tall ship up close and personal. On the day of the festival, children with maps will then embark on an hunt where "X" marks the spot to many treasure locations. All participants are guaranteed prizes from each "X" location. Each par ticipant will also have a chance to try their key for addi tional winnings and each completed map can be entered for a grand prize chance of winning "Black Bart, s" trea sure. Maps will be available on the day of the festival, but to make sure your child is not disappointed, we encourage you to buy your map in advance. Maps are only $5.00. Families can choose from a wide array of activities over this one-day spectacular event. Kicking off the family festivities at 10 a.m. is the Bicycle/Tricycle Contest and Parade. Dressed as pirates, children are invited to enter a decorated tricycle or bicycle. Don,t have a pirate cos tume?
