PEE WEE In peewee play, Procor nipped Westway Fuels 7-6 in a hard-fought game. Winning pitcher Steve Cartwright struck out nine and loser Steve Irwin fanned three. Gord Draper of Procor was the big man at the plate, knocking a triple. Pete Natyshak got a home run for Streights. On defence. Collin Spurrell was a stand out for the winners and for the losers John Mackie put in a good effort. Reitzel R e n t a l s clobbered the Oakville Police Association team 30-23. Hitting homers for the victors were Kevin Old and M a l c o l m MacPherson. Mike Smith smashed a four-bagger for the losers. Reitzel's Larry Downs put in a good fielding effort as did Brad Appleton of the Police. Towers Food City- cruised to a big win over White Oaks Cleaners. The final score was 18- 5. Mike Leonard homered for Towers and Mike McDonough and Louis Jansen got home runs for White Oaks. Starring on defense was Dwayne Smith and Jim Hunt of the winning team and Matt Mastulerz was a standout for the losers. Domestic Sales and Scott Transport were awarded wins by default over Oak town Restaurant and Donn Products. TYKE The only two games scheduled in the tyke division were defaulted. All-stars in T-ball tourney The Oakville Minor Baseball Association is sending an all-star novice T-ball team to the World Invitational Baseball Tournament to be held August 4th, 5th and 6th in Ancaster. The six to eight-year- olds play T-ball because at that age it is very- difficult for the young pitchers to get the ball over the plate which inevitably means that there are many walks. T-ball the pitcher his position on the field but he is used strictly defensively. The ball is set up on a device (see page one) that allows the batters to swing at it. Ap a r t f r o m thi s difference the game is played like regular hard ball. The novice all-stars played an exhibition match on Sunday against a tyke team which they lost. In ano t he r close contest, B P Refinery edged the Optimists by a 9-7 score. Rick McFadden got the win and Kenneth Keating suffered the loss. B P 's Ian Collier came through for a home run and the Optimists Pat Jacques and Kenneth Kellond wins foreign meet Lyn Kellond of the Oakville Kiwanis Track and Field Club has carried the banner for Oakville across the ocean. She t r i ed out in Montreal for a tri- country track and field event held this month in Portugal. She made the team and attended the meet which was contested by Canada, Portugal and Spain. Lyn came first in the 100 metre run which she ran in 11.4 seconds and she was second in the 200 metres with a time of 24.1 seconds.
