Dave Frid fanned eight and walked two for the winners, Oakville scored in the first when Rocky Delfino singled and took third on Gary Brooks' ground-rule double. He came home on a passed ball. In the seventh (last) inning J im Sheddon singled and stole second. He scored on pinch-hitter Scott Garvie's infield single. Steve Nero started on the mound but couldn't make it through the first due to a sore arm and poor fielding which saw Burlington put over three unearned runs. Ron Darichuk came in on relief to retire the last out. He yielded two runs in the second and pitched shutout ball for the remainder of the game. It was his best game this year and at one point he re tired ten st raight ! batters. In five and a third innings he gave up three singles, walked four and fanned four. The two clubs will meet each other three more times this year and coach Claire Sheridan figures it will be a great rivalry with the teams finishing one, two. They added three in the fifth, two in the seventh, one in the eighth and six in the ninth while Waterdown could muster only one more run which cam e in the seventh. Barb Jones and Norma Walter had a pair of singles each for Oakville and Mary Lou Wingate, Wendy Atwater, Linda B e n d a l l , D e l o r e s Hamilton, Ellen Hingston and Elaine Brennan each had a hit. For Waterdown, Ann Renton singled and doubled. Last Thursday the Ladies hosted Guelph in T rafalgar P ark and edged the visitors 3-2. Flo Weatherbie went eight innings and was relieved by Delores Hamilton in the ninth. Lyn Griffiths took the loss. Oakville had four hits, five walks and four were fanned. The Ladies did their scoring early, putting across a run in the first and two in the third. Guelph had single runs in the fourth and the eighth. Oakville will be hosting the Ontario Ladies' Senior E l im in a t io n Tournament from July 18 to July 21. Weekend tickets will be $5.00, daily tickets will be $2.00 ai half-day tickets will $1.00.
