In 1998, two new hotels opened in Oakville - the Monte Carlo Inn and the Country Inn. With the completion of the new Holiday Inn Express, Oakville will have 530 hotel rooms available for travellers - an increase of 100% over 1997. • The Town of Oakville and the Oakville Chamber of Commerce partner to operate the Oakville Tourist Information Centre which served over 25.000 visitors in 1998. • The Town of Oakville and the Chamber of Commerce have initiated a "Be a Great Host Program" designed to assist Oakville residents with the visiting friends and relatives market, enhancing a tourist's experience in Oakville and lengthening their stay.
