The new Hillsview for April and May is now ready for you to pick up. Lots of wonderful things happening at Hillsview Active Living Centre, Georgetown. To the Editor, I would like to express my concern for the raises that the Mayor and Coun- cillors have voted for themselves, Council sal- aries going from $31,555 to $39,668, and the May- or's going from $90,563 to $114,783. Looks like the provin- cial government has taken away the tax break of one third tax exempt on the salaries that they currently receive so council has de- cided to vote themselves a raise. Why are they en- titled to such a large tax break for working for the municipality which they are well paid for? This does not seem fair to me and they should not be allowed to give them- selves a salary increase. One set of rules for tax- payers, different rules for politicians Yet all of the volun- teers who devote their time to minor sports and other community events are not entitled to any tax breaks. Since 2018 is an elec- tion year, why don't we see what the Halton Hills Taxpayers have to say by having a referendum? Steve Prentice Acton What's Your Beef? Put it in a letter to the Editor! Deadline is Tuesday at 9 a.m. It's better than just chewing your cud!
