Ecosolutions FT (For Tomorrow) on Rexway Drive will provide ap- proximately 50,000 LED lights to the City of Mississauga in what's believed to be the largest project of its kind in Canada. It's expected to take about two years to complete the switchover from the former HPS (high-pressure sodium) fixtures to the new aluminum-cast, plastic-carbon model that are 20 per cent more efficient, saving the city $5-6 million per year. Ecosolutions FT will also imple- ment a control system for the lighting system that dims in non-peak hours. The new lights are manufactured by Mississauga-based CONXCORP and will be installed by Enersource. "This deal has been two-and-a-half years in the making and it came to fruition after we beat out big-player companies like Philips and Sylvania in the bidding for this job," said Jur- gen Hack, Ecosolutions FT president, whose business started up in George- town four years ago. "We're working on other projects in Brampton, London and Oakville and things are going really well because there are no capital costs involved for small towns or cities," said Hack. "We also do things like overpasses and pathways and have contracts with companies like Walmart and Calla- way too." When Halton Hills firefighters arrived at the home they found smoke and fire coming from the rear bedroom on the first floor. They entered the home and encountered high heat and heavy smoke and determined the rear bedroom was the source of the fire. The fire was quickly extinguished and contained primarily to the bedroom, however there was heavy smoke and heat damage to the adjacent bathroom, living room, and main floor kitchen. Crews assisted the homeowner with salvaging personal/business items from the home. The estimated loss due to fire, smoke and water damage is $120,000. Home blaze causes $120K damage
